Artist and Producer in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
Hazel is a freelance producer for TV, film and theatre; an actress, social-performance artist, writer and collaborator. Her artistic background is rooted in Sculpture and Performance Art (University of Manitoba's School of Fine Art) and formal Acting Training (Studio 58, Vancouver, Canada). She is currently the Artistic Associate for Prairie Theatre Exchange (Winnipeg, MB) and Associate Producer for Mammalian Diving Reflex.
As a producer, Hazel has self-produced her own performances since her first solo show back in 2002. By 2007 she linked up with Canadian performance-based innovators Mammalian Diving Reflex (Toronto, ON). Today she continues to produce and tour MDR works around the world. During her time in Whitehorse (YT) she produced local, national and international performances as the Programming Associate for the Yukon Arts Centre. She has produced for festivals such as PuSh International Theatre Festival, Luminato Festival and was the Industry Producer for Magnetic North Theatre Festival 2016.
Venzon spent ten years acting for Vancouver's most innovative theatre companies including Boca del Lupo, Caravan Farm, The Chop, Green Thumb, New World Theatre, Rumble Productions, Ruby Slippers, Theatre Replacement. Collaborative credits in Toronto include works with Volcano Theatre, Cahoots and Mammalian Diving Reflex. International tours include 'The Places We Go' (Tacloban City, Philippines, 2018), and 'Nanay: a testimonal play' (Berlin, Germany, 2011).
